Job Summary

The Paraprofessional Aide will provide 1:1 support to a student according to his/her IEP. The candidate will complete tasks as requested i.e. behavior/medical tracking, parent communication, focusing prompts, etc.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Teaching independence, and fostering independence in all interactions with the student, guide them and prompt them
  • Take data as assigned and turn in as requested
  • Maintain classroom/school behavior expectations throughout the school. Maintain expectations/routines that have already been established
  • Always communicate suggestions and/or problems with supervising teacher first so that changes can be made if needed/possible
  • Supervision of student in specials/resource areas: when in art, PE, music, Library, or technology
  • Supporting the student in whatever ways needed in order that they can get the most out of the class
  • Helping the student with projects while maintaining as much independence as possible, escorting the student through the building as needed
  • Follow IEP and individual/classroom/school behavior plans as designated by Special and General Education teachers
  • Treat all children and parents with dignity and respect
  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees
  • Practice appropriate safety and injury prevention methods and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs
  • Other duties as necessary
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related Education discipline 
  • Highly organized and independent worker with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • PLC model experience (Professional Learning Communities)
  • Superior skills to work with others and the ability of being a team player
  • Proficient working with current classroom technologies
  • Ability to pass NYS fingerprint clearance 

Appointment Status: Permanent

Position Status: Full time

Start Date: ASAP
